Wake up and smell the coffee

I’m still walking around shaking my head and being blonde.  People will sit there and make political comments and look for reactions.  I rarely react because it’s usually a no win situation.  Someone gets aggravated or their feelings hurt.  People don’t want to let others talk and then only hear part of what they said and never truly hear what the other person’s side is.  I usually step away and let others get into it.  I know what I believe in and do what I think is right. I do not go out breaking laws to get my point across.  I volunteer within my community to help out where things are not getting done or in areas that need more help.  I found it’s much easier.

People if you want to make a difference go out and volunteer.  If you don’t see any organizations to help, then go and start one.   Heck you can even help a friend or a family member.   It’s not hard to help out.  Talking doesn’t always help but actions do.  If we all do a little thing to help in our own community it will go pretty far and it will spread out from there.  I have volunteered at a church helping the homeless since 1997.  I ended up joining the same church in 2005.  Now don’t get in an uproar you do not need to join a church to volunteer.  Most churches welcome anyone to volunteer.  Volunteering is the best feeling in the world.

So what are you waiting for?  Go for it and step outside of your box.  It won’t hurt you or anyone else.  It will only make you feel better and seeing how it affects other people is the most amazing thing ever.

Wake up and smell the coffee and go do something.

Cut the cable cord equals saving money

Some days I walk around shaking my head.   People do not realize that getting rid of cable and going with things like Amazon Fire TV or Roku is going to save them money.  I have recently gotten the Amazon Fire TV and like with anything new it takes some getting used to.  Yes, I still have cable only because I just got the Amazon Fire TV. I can get a lot of the same shows I was watching for free or for very minimal money.  But in the end it is way cheaper than having cable.  Yes, I still have the internet but there is no way around that one, since I have some direct sales companies.

Then I have people saying to me what if I have more than one TV I have to keep moving it.  Ummm, no you don’t there are different options with different prices so you can have it on multiple TVs.  But what the heck do I know.  I don’t care if you aren’t saving money; just don’t complain to me when you cannot afford something, because I don’t want to hear it.

In the next few weeks I will be disconnecting cable.  Then here come the savings and I think is the biggest savings I can do at the moment.  It’s going to be great the things I can do with that money and I’m going to love it.  So if you’re looking for ways to save try cutting the cable cord.  What’s the worst that could happen, you don’t like what you picked? Easy fix get it turned back on.

Oh and by the way I managed to get the Amazon Fire TV for free by trading in my United Plus miles for 2 $100 Amazon Gift cards and then got it on sale.  I had heard someone else talking about trading in their miles for Amazon gift cards and how they managed to buy the majority of their Christmas presents with that.  Sometimes it pays to listen to others and how they save money.

Moving and purging

The entire moving process is stressful and motivating.  I have been purging a lot and realize that the material things are not that important.  For a few years now I have thought about getting rid of my yearbooks.  But with people telling me I shouldn’t and me waiting to hold on to material things, it has stopped me.  Well I am finally going to do it.  Part of me didn’t want to just give them to just anyone like the high school I went to.  So I am going to give them to my best friend of 33 years.  We went to school together and somehow she lost hers over the years, when I see her next they will be passed along.  The memories are nice and I can still visit the yearbooks when I want.  I worked out visitation rights.  Who am I kidding she’ll let me see them whenever.  We will probably be together anyway and be laughing our heads of at how we looked back in the 1980s.

Purging has felt good and sad.  Things are just things, but the memories last a life time.  In time I’ll scan in pictures into the computer and get rid of those.  Who knows if I’ll be able to scan in pictures from when I was a kid but I’ll at least have the ones from when I started taking pictures in my teenage years.  I am grateful for digital because they are already on my computer.

Don’t get me wrong material things can have memories but pictures also hold memories and don’t take up much space.  For me I just want things I use and not things to collect dust.  I have spent years collecting things because they were nice or they held a memory.  Don’t get me wrong I like nice things but I’d rather spend time with people then sitting in a room full of stuff.

I have known people that have both had a lot of stuff and didn’t have a lot.  I understand both sides and while it has been hard to get rid of things it has become easier because over the years.  Items that have had provided a lot of enjoyment like my Christmas Village I gave  to close friends.  They also have Christmas Villages so I knew they would enjoy having more pieces and I would still be able to enjoy when I visited them at the holidays.

All in all I am feeling better about getting rid of things.  Some things that I don’t have any attachment have been easy to get rid of.  Other things not so much but those things are things that were handmade either by my grandfather or his father.  I’ll hang onto those things and when I don’t have a need or want them any longer I’ll pass them down to family.

The bike ride

Yes, it starting to warm up finally.  I decided it was warm enough to get on the bike.   But then I realized it was windy.  I am not sure why I didn't realize the wind.  So I went on about a 15 minute bike ride.  Which was pretty good since I hadn't gone on a ride since last year.  Well, maybe I had gone once or twice this year.

Well, I survived.  Now I think I can keep doing it.  Until I realize there are stupid people on the roads and walking.  People forget how to use turn signals then look at me like I'm in the wrong when I'm on my bike and using proper signals.  It's those lazy people I'd like to see riding a bike.  Hell their lazy asses are in a car and my lazy fat ass is on a bike.  Go figure.

I just don't have patience for people who don't use turn signals and think they are in the right.  If you don't want to use the turn signal that don't drive.  I wonder how people like that even got their license and manage to keep it.  Short rant over.

Hello Mother Nature it's Spring

It is freezing here in Chicago.  Yes, we typically have 2 seasons here, winter and construction. Well, winter hasn't left and construction is underway.  I cannot even wear my flip flops and it is May already.  Give me warmth.

We've had a few nice/warm days but I need warmth. Mother Nature just need some mood stabilizers or some alcoholic drinks. Maybe then I'll be able to use the pool when I move the first weekend of June.
